Saturday my friends and I drove 2 hours outside of San Francisco to a lovely dollhouse miniature store in Riverbank, (near Modesto, CA)  to checkout one of the few dollhouse miniature stores in northern California. The store is called Huntley House Miniatures. We were excited to pay Richard, the owner a visit, as his shop offers “Make & Take” workshops every Saturday.  Aida (I hope I spelled her name correctly), a retired teacher has been teaching workshops every Saturday for the last 16 months. A truly delightful woman who so generously shares her time, love and passion for miniatures. The class is only $10 and all the materials are provided. It is recommended however, that you bring your own tool box. We just so happened to visit on the Saturday where she was teaching how to make leather handbags, shoes and boots!  There were some amazing creations coming out of there. I attached a picture of the bags my friends and I made. It was so much fun and I learned a new skill!  It’s unfortunate that the shop is 2+ hours away, but we still plan on visiting when we can. The photos of the castle and cottage were designed and created by Don Silva….well know for is miniature artistry. Richard had an amazing display of  Don’s work in his shop and well as some of his own amazing creations. It was very inspiring and Richard was so friendly and accommodating. If you’re ever in the Modesto area, it is a Must-see stop in your journey.
